APC9 itinerary

Travel arrangements are set, and registration duly paid to treacle_well. This will be patgreene's first APC... many thanks to Nancy, who is going beyond the call of duty in flying out from Minneapolis to watch my 3 kids that weekend (smile).

Flights:
Friday 11/8/02
CO 40, lv. San Francisco 7am, arrive Newark 3:15pm
CO 98, lv. Newark 4:30pm, arrive Boston 5:50pm

Staying at the APC site, the Waltham Westin hotel. I don't know if we'll get a rental car to/from the airport, it depends in part on what geekchick is doing.

Geekchick does not know what she's doing transportation-wise as of yet; I'm saving frequent flyer miles to bring C. out to San Jose with me in January. I'm toying with the idea of driving so that I can swing by Homeport on the way home, but we'll see how that idea works out. Maybe if I can find a cheapish train ticket I can do that, which will give me lots of time to catch up on my reading and sewing.

Hm... as of 10 minutes ago, Washington-Boston roundtrip train fares are $120 (cheapest, getting a 14-day discount on the return, not on Acela). But flying from Baltimore into Providence is only $108 (again, with a 14-day discount on the return flight) on Southwest, or about $149 with everyone else. Flying from IAD or DCA is prohibitively expensive (>=$350 RT). If you decide on air or rail, we will happily split the rental car costs...

When one adds in the hour and a half to get to BWI from here, plus time and hassle to get from Providence to Boston, it works out to not be such a great deal. If I can find a cheap flight that gets me to Logan at roughly the same time as y'all arrive, I may do that...otherwise I may just drive up myself.
