Unexpected place for a flashback

One of the reasons I'm cautious and defensive in sensual settings is that my first experience, at age 20, was a traumatic, nonconsensual one. :-(

Standing in the voting booth this morning, I glanced at the list of candidates for State Assembly in my district. The person that instigated (perpetrated?) that encounter was the listed Libertarian candidate.

I froze... then voted for the Democrat.

You've already got the courage.
Here are some hugs.

*jaw-flapping bogglement*
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

(I understand entirely. A few months back I actually did a websearch on the person who assaulted me and relaxed immensely when I learned he was in Texas. . . .)

Im sorry, if you want to bend an ear on that one, I'll be around.

Oh, dear. I'm sorry. I didn't even glance at the Libertarian candidate since I knew I was voting Democratic in that race. I wish I had, so I could have given you extra hugs today.

*hug* if you want one. Oh, hon. How incredibly awful. :[

How utterly terrible. Hugs being sent your way if you want them.

Oh my gawd. How awful! Any chance it was someone else with the same name? Either way, voting Democratic seems reasonable!

*hugs*

Oh, Brian! How awful :-(

Ugh! How awful! What a way to skew your political opinion!!

I guess the closest thing that happened to me is that I once slept with the son of the local candidate for Australia's token fundy Christian party (which is laughing stock in the realm of Australian politics). But that was a good thing—definitely consentual!

I remember the story. Perpetrated is the right word all right. I hope you're feeling better by the time you read this.

DAMN !! I'm so sorry, I didn't know. It does explain a few things. I wish you had felt you could confide. I love you.

I knew this person was local, and had actually confronted them over lunch about five years before. She mumbled something about she thought she was doing favors for otherwise-undesirable geeks, and moved on. Sigh.

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2002-11-15 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
No... actually, this person had run for office in the East Bay a few years ago.

With only 4% of the vote (grin).

I was too ashamed and embarrassed to admit it, 20 years ago...

And such great symbolism! (giggle)

Oh, ick.

Way to add injury to injury, that.

Yuck.

I have a hug if you want one. Good gods.

Grrrrrrrr.

Wow. That's just an amazing amount of hubris. Yuck.
