I shouldn't care, but...

From the LJ Valentine website:
If nobody nominated you - and you didn't make a match then no email was sent.

[identity profile] anisoptera.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. No matches. I did three but no one did one for me.

Happy Valentine's Day!

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The depressing part IMO isn't the lack of matches, it's the lack of misses, i.e. unrequited nominations. But have a happy Valentine's Day yourself :-).

Right...no one put me down for a valentine either or have I have I missed your meaning again?

Going out with a [livejournal.com profile] dragonblue1964 to an friends opening. I sure there is some chocolate on the horizon for me tonight. :)

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
You're correct... I meant that while matches are definitionally hit-or-miss, not even being nominated by anyone is worse. Better unrequited than invisible?

Yep. I'm with you. I wanted to comiserate with you but don't feel too sorry for me. I had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] 98 yesterday and we stared meaningfully into each others eyes as well as other PDA's. There was not much time for anything else as he's working flat out on a contract that is almost finished.

I did get the cutest e-card from a sweet friend and that was a nice surprise.

I'm betting tonight or tomorrow will be better for you.

[identity profile] lavendargrrl.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
ok...I feel like a stupid newbie...lol...what lj valentine website?

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah -- see http://www.steve.org.uk/lvs/index.html, it was a LJ valentine game...

[identity profile] daltong.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
I did 3 matches that I thought were sure things and I didn't get any. (And I was too late for the 5 match upgrade.)

I don't think many people knew about it. Only about 3700 responded, out of what I believe is about a million LJ users. So it's entirely possible your Valentines didn't even participate.

[identity profile] mactavish.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
I know that neither of my sweeties participated.

[identity profile] purpletigron.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Me tooooo...!!!

Will you be a Valentine, [livejournal.com profile] brian1789?

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course! :-) Hmmm... you should have gotten an email... (wonders about bugs).

[identity profile] purpletigron.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I did... but because I only had three nominations, I only got one identification. So I think you just solved one of my two mysteries :-)

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I figured I'd get at least one match from an existing partner... but that presumed that they were interested in playing this particular LJVD game, or knew about it. Oh, well... on top of that, no one that I *didn't* match chose me, either. Feh.

[identity profile] griffen.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't even apply, so I'm sorry that I didn't. I should have, now that I think of it. :(

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
If you were interested in the game otherwise, sure. But doing it *for* someone specifically seems vaguely codependent?

[identity profile] mactavish.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a "name five people you want to send an anonymous valentine to, and if they also chose you, you'll both be notified" game running about last week. I don't tend to share valentiney stuff outside of my existing-lover range, and I know neither of them participated.

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
At least it isn't harvesting and sending email addresses, a la Crushlink...

[identity profile] griffen.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the main reason I didn't participate.

But if I'd known that it might have made people feel better, I would have. Now I feel dumb.

[identity profile] purpletigron.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It was only three people, when I did mine on Wednesday. The system could have been set up to update people who had already signed, when the limit was increased... :-(

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It was an online Valentine game... see http://www.steve.org.uk/lvs/index.html .

I didn't go near the site until this morning, whenI found that it was already closed. Sorry, dear.

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Serves me right for presuming... (wry grin)
geekchick: (affection)

[personal profile] geekchick 2003-02-14 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I sent flowers instead. ;-P

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that the large box that arrived, addressed to [profile] patgreene?
;-)
geekchick: (Default)

[personal profile] geekchick 2003-02-14 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, they'd only let me put one name in their order form. The card however is more inclusive (assuming I remembered to actually sign this one). ;)

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
(grin) Pat says that the pink and white carnations are lovely, and that yes, you signed the card :-).
geekchick: (affection)

[personal profile] geekchick 2003-02-14 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Pink and white, eh? Hrm. At least this year they sent the right *type* of flowers, if not exactly what I thought I was getting, and I assume the card wasn't from "Jeremy" either. ;)

[identity profile] patgreene.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
No, they're pink and *red*. quite lovely. Thanks, sweetie,
geekchick: (Default)

[personal profile] geekchick 2003-02-14 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Woohoo! They got one right! ;)

[identity profile] elorie.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't get any either **sniff**

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That scrapes :-|. Surprising, really -- I thought you'd have gotten several nominations... I'm beginning to wonder if there were flaws in the application software.

[identity profile] lavendargrrl.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
well, bummer...I hadn't the vaguest notion this was happening or I would have enthusiastically been nominating a few folks...~g~ oh well, next year I guess...

[identity profile] purpletigron.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Why don't we ask them to re-activate the software for World Book Day on Mar 6? The tradition is to send a book and a flower to dear ones on that day. So, with a slight change of wording, one could easily use the system to send a book title and a flower description?

I didnt get any either.

[identity profile] p3aches.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I did not get any LJ valentine nominations either. I didnt even know about it till today.

Re: I didnt get any either.

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a bit surprised, again... I would have thought that your Tribe alone would have had nominations whizzing back and forth. (hug) hope that you had a good day.

Re: I didnt get any either.

[identity profile] p3aches.livejournal.com 2003-02-18 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
I had an interesting weekend.

Re: I didnt get any either.

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-18 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
(grin) so it sounds like... hope that it was fun. And your dance card has refilled itself, it appears ;-).

[identity profile] boubabe.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I couldn't even get through to the site, with the message saying that the site couldn't be found. I'm know I'm not the only one who couldn't get access to it.

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that it was set up to block access after 1200 in one's own timezone... but if it couldn't be found, then that sounds like a local DNS issue. (hug) anyway...

[identity profile] dawnd.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I couldn't access the site, either. Thus, my annoyed message from this morning.

In any case:

Happy Valentine's Day, Brian!

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-02-14 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
(smile) That's what I'd have said to you, likewise. Thanks!
