OK, I'm back home now. Actually, I got home about four hours ago, after a wretched trip back from Georgia. After the 4 hours of snow delays (huge de-icing queues, but only 3 trucks) in Atlanta (that hopeforyou mentions), our Minneapolis flight was postponed until today (no crew). We spent 5 hours stranded on the apron, waiting for de-icing while I wrestled (literally, at times) two high-energy, fidgety kids (I had given Pat my FC seat again, plus gotten James moved up). I called Josh on the airphone in flight and Hope couldn't make it -- just as well. At one point last night, Northwest had the five of us reassigned on three different SFO flights, all separate, including the 3 kids (James via Detroit?). After four hours in a hotel, back to MSP airport at 5am, then wait again (new crew late, then an argument over hazardous cargo belowdeck), then finally we left around 8am. But NW wasn't prepared for morning arrivals in SFO... so they had *one person* to unload our plane. Back and forth he went, one luggage trailer-worth at a time. It took 1.5 hours. Then the limo driver (I hired a stretch for $140 to hold our 15 pieces of luggage and 5 people) was late.

And now I'm off away next Monday again to Alabama on business... sigh. My head hurts.

On the other hand, my new titanium G4 Powerbook should be here in 2 weeks, and at work there was notice of a 5.5% general schedule pay increase, so that's better news.

(grin) What, a state where it is illegal to sell vibrators? Actually, Huntsville isn't all that bad, other than the airline connections. I work for NASA, and we have an R&D facility there, so we travel there quite a bit. A local university and the presence of all of the NASA and NASA-contractor (Boeing, Lockheed, etc) employees help keep the atmosphere reasonably tolerant and open-minded there. And there's a large expatriate German community still...
