Last week, while passing through Minneapolis, I finally got to try on my new shiny black leather pants. Despite being marked as "size 12", they fit! Albeit snugly and rather form-fitting. Now I just need an excuse to wear them (grin)...

Date: 2003-03-02 07:55 pm (UTC)I'm sure you can find any number of places to wear snug, form-fitting leather jeans. Most of your friends (nearly all of the female and some of the guys, I'll bet) would not object in the least, under just about any circumstance!

Date: 2003-03-03 09:06 am (UTC)Regarding the size--you have also discovered the other thing about women's clothes--sizing is apparently random. One size 12 is not necessarily the same as another size 12, even of the same brand. This is part of why it takes women so long to shop for clothes--it's not JUST that we can't make up our minds ;^) --it's that we have to try on EVERY SINGLE ITEM or we don't know if it'll fit. No such thing as walking into a store and saying "I wear a size 12--what have you got?" I have clothes in my closet (these all FIT me, mind you) ranging from a size 4 (a raincoat) to a size 20 (a dress with ties that adjust the fit at the waist).

Date: 2003-03-04 02:39 pm (UTC)Women vary more in proportion than men, by and large. Sometimes it drives me crazy that there's only nominal standardization in the women's fashion industry. But being a "non-standard" body type, most of the time I'm grateful that there's enough variation that I can sometimes find clothes to fit.
