Re-adjustment

Somehow, it feels like I only left here a couple of weeks ago. Weren't we just taking down the satellite dish in the pouring rain? And stowing gear for the winter? It's at once alien and familiar, far away and strangely home.

But cold... I'm shivering in the tent as I write this. No heat, just 34F and 20 knot winds. Balmy summer, for Devon.

This morning was standby again, watching the weather. After lunch I went over to the Polar Shelf warehouse to help organize our manifests for today.

Around three an aircraft appeared, after the snow abated a bit. I was the only passenger, so got to ride in the last row, behind diesel fuel and propane ;-)

The flight was uneventful... about an hour, and we passed over the camp:

I saw several friends in passing, who got on the same airplane headed home. My new tent went up easily and is quite roomy... three could sleep there. Most of the rest of the day was spent unpacking and setting up my workspace.

Finally... good news: my gravity meter cleared Customs and will be flown in Wednesday. bad news: the Hamilton-Sundstrand space suit, necessary for the suited tests, is now tied up likewise in Customs. Sigh...

Why do you need a gravity meter? You're being billed for use? ;)

Only if they disconnect you for unpaid bills... ;-)

Can you go into the work tent to warm up? I seem to remember that they have heaters in there.... Please keep warm.

The mess/kitchen tent has a heater, the others are off to conserve propane. Actually, it isn't the temperatures as much as the 25-30 knot winds... but today (Wednesday) is better.

Happy Birthday! Hope your day warms up considerably! *hug*

BTW, who else is up there this field season? Any relatives this time? I miss V. I wish he'd come back, but then I'm a broken record about that. Is Rimmer there this time?

Thanks (hug) it improved.

V's at school, AR's at work down there... it does seem emptier in this tent without V. No relatives of mine this year... Pascal's here, Steve Braham, one of the dogs (Kimmie), Mel's running the kitchen. Greg Pisanich from IC is here working on the UAV/BEES project.

BTW, is V the guy your sister was dating? is she still seeing him?
