An astronaut friend of mine was just named NASA's new Chief Scientist. He's got a strong background in both astronomy and IT, so will make an excellent choice.

On the one hand, now I have a friend in a high place... on the other hand, no more launch invitations or help with my own application. And he's giving up a flight role for a desk job... hmm.

Can he get me a job? I'd love to work for NASA. I've been a fan of the space program since I was in elementary school watching the Viking Landers on Mars and helping to make a full-sized mockup of the lander in our class-room. Boy that brings back memories. I hope that having friends moving up is going to be good for your career too. You always seem to be posting about doing great stuff. I admire that.

He's headed for Washington, DC... but there are regular openings appearing at my NASA center in Mountain View, too.

Could you point me toward where I could find those? I would certainly be interested?

Thanks

No launch invitations? But why?

Good to know that there's someone good in the job :-)
