jayAn astronaut friend of mine was just named NASA's new Chief Scientist. He's got a strong background in both astronomy and IT, so will make an excellent choice.
On the one hand, now I have a friend in a high place... on the other hand, no more launch invitations or help with my own application. And he's giving up a flight role for a desk job... hmm.
