Today I took a deep breath, and decided to finally "out" myself poly-wise to a friend... a distant-but-special friend, someone that I once practically worshiped. My first love, 25 years ago, although we never did more back then than kiss and write daily letters. She's monogamous and has been married now for 20+ years, so I feared a strong negative reaction. With great trepidation, I wrote her an email over lunch, and sent it... and in her reply tonight, discovered that she'd been reading my LJ and had figured this out long ago. Eep.

This made me giggle a little.
I, too, wonder who reads my LJ who I dont' know about.
I'm not techie enough to know how to check that,.. if it's possible.
I am pretty conservative about what sort of private stuff I post publicly.... but I do have some filters where I discuss wilder stuff.

speaking of which.. I just added you to a couple today.
:)
hope ya don't mind a little extra TMI.

It's possible, but more than a little tricky -- you'd need to have your own web server (so you can access the server logs), and then put an image on that server, and include the image in one of your LJ posts. And then that would only give you the locations of the computers it was accessed from; in most cases, if those are home computers, about the closest info you can get is what city it's in.

In other words, you'd have to set up something specifically to do it, it's a large amount of trouble, and you can't really get very meaningful information out of it even if you did all that....

Meanwhile, to Brian: yay for having friends who like you whether or not you hide such things. :)

(grin) thanks! I have good friends. And that one is generally unafraid to speak her mind (or give me a figurative kick when she thinks it's appropriate), so I would have heard from her earlier if there was a problem. Whew.

I really don't think about who might be reading... and I often air relatively-personal topics without filters. The friend in question probably has seen TMI for her tastes if she's been a regular reader of mine. Sigh.

On the other hand, I'm happy to discuss your "wilder" topics, thanks for the trust!
