Today... get the kids away to school. Skating lesson, I went through my program to music, successfully several times. Project telecon at 10am. Picked up tools and saw [personal profile] tenacious_snail. Created 3'x4' poster of my project, sent the JPG off to a Kinko's in Virginia to print it for me to pick up there. Turned in LH's badge. Went home and worked with SD to finish the drill support platform that I'm building for work, using my personal tools.

Les came over and took the kids later to W&S. In the meantime, [profile] patgreene and I went to SF and had dinner with [profile] curiousangel, [personal profile] rivka and nearly-toddler Alex, who is beautiful and grinning and adorable. :)

Then off via BART to the East Bay for W&S, then riding home with Les and the kids, printing directions and finally packing. Now... off to bed. I have three hours before the limo comes...

Sigh... I may miss my flight. The limo has had a breakdown, and I'm sitting in a dark car in the rain. Sitting on the University offramp, next to Ikea. They're sending another car, but it may not be in time...

{Update: I arrived at the curb at SFO with 40 minutes before my 6:15am flight departure, but made it OK and am now sitting in Chicago, waiting to board my connection :)

I'm checked in and settled in my hotel in Tyson's Corner, waiting to go out later for dinner with the lovely [personal profile] geekchick, who is on her way.

After being stranded in the rain in the predawn darkness this morning, my flights were uneventful. Given 3 hours of sleep last night, I slept for most of the journey... despite a well-meaning guy from Oregon sitting next to me who was a chatterbox and had big elbows. The guy even tried to teach me sudoku... I finally just stared out the window and dozed off.

After landing at BWI, I scrambled... made it to a local Starbucks near the airport, in time to meet an online friend, [personal profile] archway, for the first time. Yay! We tried this unsuccessfully last summer in North Carolina. She seemed strange and familiar at once... more layers and flashes of familiar aspects as we talked and sipped our beverages. And she's got the boldness and mischeviousness and Amazon warrior-nature that I'd expected. And was striking in green velvet, on her way with her sweetie B. to a later event. (smile) These meet-someone-IRL scenarios have an edge on uncertainty and excitement, at least for me, and this one turned out very well.

Otherwise... I've found the Kinko's that has my poster for the conference...
