So to speak... after finding my comforter in my garage bedroom fouled again last week, despite the ultrasonic device chirping two feet away, I'd decided I had to get rid of the rat by whatever means.

Cut for somewhat rat-macabre details )

[profile] patgreene and I went by her favorite trivia-online bar Saturday night... their net connection was down, so we impulsively decided to test the new tires and suspension by driving to the Santa Cruz Diner for dinner, followed by Marianne's for dessert. Twice, as it turned out -- upon returning around midnight, I went up alone to the dark apartment to check on Cayenne, going quietly. Surprising [personal profile] tenacious_snail and [personal profile] inflectionpoint there (blush), who nonetheless offered me Marianne's ginger ice cream while we discussed flame colorants for a few minutes before I left them on their date night.

Sunday church was the first time in weeks, since early July. Then I went by Les's, picked up Joanne and dropped her at a BART station en route to a tantric breathing intro class in SF. It was fun, as long as I didn't hyperventilate and kept my throat wet. Changed/enhanced perception and an endorphin rush, probably due to all of that extra oxygen plus synchronized movement. I was open and grinning, even a bit loud by the end of it. ;-). It kept me happy through nearly an hour of Bay Bridge backup traffic (due to a wreck on the Oakland side). And onward to see [personal profile] inflectionpoint again, this time for Italian food in Berkeley and red wine and conversations mostly about metaphysics and physics and the observer problem as it relates to various spiritual paths. And playing with a large, fluffy kitten...

You continue to be an unexpected blessing to our family in several ways, and I love you and am very glad you're here. :) I appreciate your adverturousness, sense of humor, occasional theatrics, intelligence and the way that, despite being the youngest, you look out for your brothers as well as them looking out for you.

And... it feels a bit weird to think that I no longer have kids in single digits, let alone diapers...
