Ridiculous

It will cost more to get my two adults and 3 kids to/from SFO airport ($310) than the cost of my round-trip ticket from there to Atlanta ($280). Even with work covering part of the former (because I'm doing some business on the trip), that's painful.

And... JL is spending 12/20-30 in Sarasota, an hour from where we'll be 12/26-31.

Umm, excuse me? I don't understand why it should be that kind of money. Do you have to do it at some ungodly hour? Isn't there anyone who could give you a lift? Is it cheaper to hire two cabs to go the distance? Perhaps you could pay someone to drive you in your van? We have lots of friend who could use, say, $100 in their pocket at the moment. MFG used to do that for one of her sweeties. She'd write a reciept, and he'd submit it just like all the rest of his travel reciepts. So she actually ended up getting paid by his company.

Anyhow, that's what comes to mind. Let me know if you want clarification, or to bounce any other ideas off me.

The limo company that NASA uses insisted that I needed *two* cars to transport everyone (their per-sedan limit is four). It's about $70/sedan/each way, plus tips. Cabs are comparable from here. It is at 1pm tomorrow (Sunday), returning Saturday 1/3 at 8:30pm, so the hours are normal.

I'm looking at other alternatives... the folks at [profile] housedreamland may be offering a ride, or else SuperShuttle only would cost $180 roundtrip. Or there's long-term parking...

It is a scary scary thing indeed to think that long-term parking could end up a CHEAPER option than taking a shuttle! Wow. Glad Hope was able to help you out.

It would probably be cheaper just to drive the van and park in long-term parking. (It certainly would here, the long-term lots are well under $10/day.)

Thanks -- after reading this, [profile] patgreene checked out the local long-term options at SFO. They run about $165-170 for the 12 days (one place was $130, but was 5 miles from the airport in a rundown area).

Atlanta

I'm a very new user and was browsing. I came across you through ballroom dancing which is also an interest of mine. I also live in the Atlanta area.
