Tonight we went to a social event at the Rabbit Warren, until [profile] patgreene started to react allergically to the cats there. Pat had to stop and buy a blouse beforehand because the one she wore smelled funny. I wore lavender myself in honor of the weekend ;-). Pleasant conversation and stories at the RW... then we looked for dinner. Since we were in San Leandro anyway, I suggested a familiar place.

So... Pat has now lost her sushi-cherry! (grin) The expression on her face was... complex. She said that the flavor was OK to good, but the texture was disquieting. We were at the same Japanese restaurant where [personal profile] dawnd initiated me in turn, last year ;-).

Maybe the taste (sans wasabi...) scent and texture are vaguely reminiscent of certain kinds of sex? Slippery, slightly salty smell... (ducking)

I like lots of wasabi, myself, even if the kind served over here is basically just horseradish.

Several kinds of raw fish sushi, yeah. My first experience with sushi was with kappa-maki (vegetarian) so that part of the experience was missing.

I've probably only had proper wasabi once or twice. BOOM!

(nods) rolls, or the veggie or egg types wouldn't have the same subconscious sensory correlations...
