Ulp. Our homeowner's insurance is billed annually, due on the anniversary of our closing date (June 16). I discovered today that it didn't get paid... and last week, we had a serious grease fire with 8-foot flames, that could have burned down the house.

Whew! Glad you are safe. Consider it a wake-up call.

After Pat's last fender-bender happened the day our auto insurance was to expire (same reason...) whew.

Aren't computers meant to do that sort of remembering for you these days????

I haven't set up once-per-year payments automatically, and the amount increases every year in any case.

But you could at least be reminded that some payment was due, even if you didin't know the amount.

Meanwhile I'm puzzled... In the UK insurance companies send out reminders when premiums are due. Does that not happen in the US for some reason?

There was undoubtedly a renewal notice sent, probably received when I was away on business and lost in a pile of junk mail...

OOOH, you're making me glad that they're putting my insurance into my escrow...I just have to pay the first year up front (in the next couple of weeks!!!)

Generally, I like having control over the policy, and the ability to change policies... but this has a downside.

eep!

Somehow, our insurance didn't get paid, either. It's SUPPOSED to be billed to the Mortgage company, and wasn't. Fortunately, I noticed that something didn't look right about that bill, and called our insurance co. before it was overdue, so they could bill to the right place.

Glad things were all resolved without incident!!!

Glad that no one slipped on your proverbial sidewalk, either!

I could wish you were sighing in other ways, but I'll happily take relief (ducking)

Were you wanting me to sigh in exasperation, Brian? (Weren't you claiming something about not flirting much, at some point?)

Strange as it may seem, some people do manage. I have no idea how.
