Your score: 23
0 - 10 = low
11 - 22 = average (most women score about 15 and most men score about 17)
23 - 31 = above average
32 - 50 is very high (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 35)
50 is maximum

This doesn't surprise me, I've noticed several tendencies in myself that were vaguely Asperger's-like, over the years... not dominating, but enough to cause me to wonder if I'm a genetic carrier of something. Which could have been reinforced into full-blown Asperger's or HFA, diagnosed in my son David.

David's score: 33( I had to interpret a few of the questions for him, which could have skewed the results slightly, either way)

Also...
Empathy Quotient
Your score: 62
0 - 32 = low (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 20)
33 - 52 = average (most women score about 47 and most men score about 42)
53 - 63 is above average
64 - 80 is very high
80 is maximum

Actually, this isn't a surprise either... reading others' emotional states, and inferring actions and meanings, and putting myself in their shoes are all derived from childhood survival skills for me...

Systemizing Quotient
Your score: 41
0 - 19 = low
20 - 39 = average (most women score about 24 and most men score about 30)
40 - 50 = above average (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score in this range)
51 - 80 is very high (three times as many people with Asperger Syndrome score in this range, compared to typical men, and almost no women score in this range)
80 is maximum

Pattern-matching is hardly a surprise, either... LOL. Would have been higher if I were more organized, or bothered looking at construction details of things I don't own/control...

Thought it might interest you to know. I took the test and scored 13.

Right in the average range... and I doubt that Dad's is much higher. OTOH, your father (Pa) would have scored higher, I'd bet. He had reputedly native number-processing abilities in his head that were exceptional.

Oh, and [profile] scarlet1, meet [personal profile] geekchick (smile).

I think he shaded his differently... there were some questions that he answered "slightly" that I would have answered "definitely" for him, but I let him fill in his choice :).

I know I was the one who mentioned the test...I don't know if I mentioned that I got a 9.

I did the "empathy" test and actually question the validity of the results...because I think that people who *are* empathic are more worried about the cues that they missed or overlook, while people who don't care so much think that they are correctly interpretting others cues and behaviors. Or maybe I just don't like my results because I want to be more empathic than average?

The 9 doesn't surprise me, either, as several of your strengths are in directions opposite to Asperger's/HFA tendencies, IMO. I haven't seen an empathy test, though...

empathy quotient

I re-took the test, paying more attention, and noticed that the questions I had a hard time choosing an answer on were the often/most of the time sorts of questions. I would have preferred to answer some questions in a never/often/sometimes/always sort of way. I also reminded myself to answer this as of today, not five years ago. I find that I hang on to my mistakes in my memory a lot longer than I need to.

So, with that in mind, I scored a 58. I knew it would *raise* my score, but I hadn't expected it to make *that* much difference.

Interesting...this is making me float some interesting ideas, because of your scores on the empathy quotient and autism scale. I wouldn't have expected such a high score from you (though I assumed it would be higher than male average), and I'm wondering how these two things interrelate, if at all. I want to talk about this with you more.

I've posted that, and the systemizing score (41) above. And the "eyes" test score was a 26 (can you tell how I spent my lunchtime today? :).

Actually, in some respects "systemizing empath" is not a bad description of me... even if it sounds oxymoronic in Baron-Cohen's context.

how right you are!

I remember a lover who wanted to kiss each of my freckles, individually. Its not a task that I'd want to set before you, but I am sure that as soon as you started reading this, you thought about how you'd map out the areas/freckles that had been covered.

On the "eyes" test, I found it interesting that I correctly interpreted the hostile, suspicious, etc glances, but tended to misinterpret "desire" "flirtacious", "friendly", etc. as more-neutral emotions.

I was sure I would score higher on the eyes test, but I ended up average. I thought some of the photos were hard to see, though.
