Not shaping up as a good day... received another research proposal rejection, that's the third this week. Historically, my accept/reject ratio has been about 1:2, but this year I'm currently batting zero-for-five.

On top of this, I just discovered that the NASA travel office forgot to hold my reservations between Edmonton and Resolute, pending ticket issue, and now the seats are apparently gone. They admit their screwup, but it doesn't get me to Resolute. Grumble...

Which proposal was this? And things are tough all around the agency, no?

Things are especially tough in the sciences, space and earth sciences have dried up. This was an Earth Sciences research proposal, the one that [personal profile] dangerpudding and I finished in March while in Houston.

(sigh)

that one was a total PITA. The least they could have done was fund it. I'm sorry to hear that, dear.

From what you've said, though, at least two of those proposals weren't funded because *none* were funding, not because they don't merit it.

Unfortunately, due to the attitudes of the clown in the White House and his minions, any Earth Science that doesn't or might not agree with their particular world/political/economic/religious views seems to be getting quashed. Sorry that your proposal was the victim of it.

(Now if you'd proposed a satellite project to prove the Biblical flood or to find the location of the Garden of Eden, they might have funded you. Or if you'd put in a proposal to show that global warming was good for the environment and the economy, or a satellite survey of potential terrorist targets and training camps, they might have funded you. It's a sad state of affairs methinks. :-( )

Well, hell.

I hope your day gets better.

*hugs*

*hugs* Hope they manage to find you a flight, and hope future proposals meet with more success.

Sorry to hear about the flight mess-up. Does this mean you will hang around the Bay Area for a while longer?

Ugh. =/ Have they worked out another way to get you to Resolute yet?

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2006-07-08 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Sort of. Their current solution calls for me to go to Canada and then pay $3K at the counter there...

I don't know what your official status is or if you'd be able to help, but please see this . Thanks!
