Third day of drilling, photos

An overcast day Drizzle, rain, fog... our camp, looking northward.

Icy, um, core Was that ice in that core, or was G. just happy to see K.? ;)

Neat mud rings The heat of drilling often melted some of the permafrost, which mixed with fine cuttings and became a platy, moist mess... but left concentric rings of mud around the shaft.

More flowers Some more saxifrage... the flowers are edible, rather tangy.

End of a long day I'm in my usual zone at the back of the tent, next to the webcam and phone. Jacket stuffed with tools, GPS, gloves...
