Yesterday [personal profile] dangerpudding and I both had our IAC presentations. She wasn't used to this kind of environment, had an inattentive chair *and* audio problems, and still did well. Mine was redone on the fly, but I'd prepared for a 25-minute instead of a 20-min talk, and had to hurry up towards the end. Both audiences were 20-25 people.

Afterwards, we went out with [personal profile] tenacious_snail for a celebratory dinner in the center of Valencia. :)

We rented a 4-BR/2BA apartment in Valencia for E140/day, which despite rent and laundry troubles was still in a convenient location and spacious. And had this nice sunrise view out of our 8th floor window...

Post-presentation celebration

After successful presentations at the IAC by both [personal profile] dangerpudding and I, we went out to celebrate. :) We tried arroz negro (paella with squid ink) with baby octopi...
Sarah's talk
Sarah's talk

Here is Sarah during her IAC talk-portion... she also had a hang out by the poster period, later. Despite inattention by the session chair (right) and an audio problem, she did very well (with an audience of 23).

Here's the Thursday morning plenary talk -- about Rio Tinto as a Mars analog site. It was good timing as a reference later in the day for both my talk and Sarah's. Ricardo Parra (from our MARTE project) is in the panel.
Dinner with Tony
Dinner with Tony

Dinner Wednesday night with TG (from Ames) and [personal profile] tenacious_snail and I... more paella, plus a salad with smoked salmon... and spaghetti-like baby eels. ;)

The IAC 2006 site... the closest building is the science museum where most events and all sessions are held.

The last picture is so cool.....it looks like I'm looking into one of my SF books! Fantastic buildings!!

So glad your talks went well and that you're having a relatively good time!

Yes... very futuristic :-) Reminds me of some of the Star Wars architecture...
