Note to self: do not *ever* do *that* again... mix a Merlot table red at dinner with Macallan 12-year Scotch with dessert (Dinner was itself quite enjoyable, BTW)... I have a blinding hangover this morning, easily the worst in a decade. Oooowhh... I didn't even drink that much! We consumed far more Macallan's and Oban per capita after hours on Devon last summer with no ill aftereffects.

Oh, dear.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who can mix various forms of hard liquor with no ill effects (one memorable time I had Midori, then peppermint schnaps, then tequila), but throw a red wine into the mix and it's hangover city. I've got rather wary of red wine, and now only use it for cooking.

Thanks... red wine doesn't seem to bother me in other contexts... I've had, say, red wine at dinner followed by an Irish coffee many times with no problems (most recently on the plane with [personal profile] hopeforyou last week). Perhaps it was mixing it with the crab/lobster fettucine...
