Note to self: do not *ever* do *that* again... mix a Merlot table red at dinner with Macallan 12-year Scotch with dessert (Dinner was itself quite enjoyable, BTW)... I have a blinding hangover this morning, easily the worst in a decade. Oooowhh... I didn't even drink that much! We consumed far more Macallan's and Oban per capita after hours on Devon last summer with no ill aftereffects.

Oh, dear.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who can mix various forms of hard liquor with no ill effects (one memorable time I had Midori, then peppermint schnaps, then tequila), but throw a red wine into the mix and it's hangover city. I've got rather wary of red wine, and now only use it for cooking.

Sending much comfort and hangover-chasing-away vibes to you this morning, Brian.

Sorry you're feeling so lousy today. Hope you feel better. Hey, at least you had a good time last night. =) So, was I right about the Molten Chocolate Cake?

I'm told that particular wines may have stronger effects than others. I haven't had any strong reactions yet to any particular red wines (knock on wood), but perhaps you just ran across one that didn't get along with your system. In my own case, staying heavily hydrated and taking an extra multivitamin before sleeping seem to work pretty well.

I didn't know you liked Macallan! I love their product, and Macallan 18 is magnificent. I had one shot of Macallan 25 once, and while I won't knowingly pay those prices for booze, it was amazingly good.

Owie! B-vitamin and lots of water, of course.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear about this! The adage of not mixing grape and grain has never really worked for me - I usually ignore it and don't have any extra trouble. Maybe you should stick to the 18 year old????
