Note to self: do not *ever* do *that* again... mix a Merlot table red at dinner with Macallan 12-year Scotch with dessert (Dinner was itself quite enjoyable, BTW)... I have a blinding hangover this morning, easily the worst in a decade. Oooowhh... I didn't even drink that much! We consumed far more Macallan's and Oban per capita after hours on Devon last summer with no ill aftereffects.

I'm told that particular wines may have stronger effects than others. I haven't had any strong reactions yet to any particular red wines (knock on wood), but perhaps you just ran across one that didn't get along with your system. In my own case, staying heavily hydrated and taking an extra multivitamin before sleeping seem to work pretty well.

I didn't know you liked Macallan! I love their product, and Macallan 18 is magnificent. I had one shot of Macallan 25 once, and while I won't knowingly pay those prices for booze, it was amazingly good.

I'm not sure a highland distiller would thank you for calling McAllan a product rather than a whisky, but then I don't go for modern marketting speak.

Hmm... come to think of it, last summer we were drinking the 18-year-old, not the 12... maybe I should stay away from the cheaper stuff? Or that particular red...
