Less than 48 hours
Sep. 5th, 2003 02:11 amUntil an event that is typically more stressful than an annual performance evaluation... a local poly pool party with 50-100 attendees. Lacking a local date, I've almost always gone alone... and sometimes foundered, without a safety-person there for emotional support. This time, there will also be a few people there that are likely to quietly mock me, whom I'll be avoiding. If it weren't the largest local community event, and I wasn't also starved for higher-energy social space, I might skip it. But I won't... wish me luck.

Date: 2003-09-05 08:49 am (UTC)I think you will do fine. With a 100 poeple there... you can gravitate toward those with good vibes toward you.
If I were there.. I'd hang out with you!
It is kind of hard to go to those huge group throng events without a companion. I admire your courage. It's not easy.
And remember this: anyone who is there 'quietly mocking you', is really not worthy of much of your time or energy. If that's the most interesting thing they have to do at a party.. then they need to re-evaluate their social priorities, get a hobby, something.
;)
and... don't let your imagination go too wild on that idea. I bet most people will just be there to have fun......
enjoy.
