In other personal news...
In nine days, I've lost the four pounds that I gained in Spain. Some of that must have been retained water, and I'm still 7 lbs. over my long-term plateau weight. Reducing lunches to a piece of cheese has helped, as has lots of exercise over the past week. And I've tightened my arms and pecs with some weightlifting, and begun to get my abs back under control. Not back in shape by any means, but progress.

May I make a suggestion? With the exercise, a piece of cheese probably isn't all bad. But you might find that getting the same calories from a mixed salad which includes nuts, might be better for you overall? Nuts tend to have a lower proportion of saturated fat, and then there are added vitamins and minerals in the salad ingredients.

It isn't necessarially protein which keeps the hunger pangs at bay, BTW. Oh, and you know what I'm going to say about not taking a break from your office for lunch :-)

Thankfully, cholesterol has never been a concern... thanks to heredity, it's never gone over 160 (and my ratioes are all in the "very low risk" categories). Likewise with trigylcerides. Blood pressure is my area of long-term health concern.

I'm interesting that you like some nuts, but have not found any seeds that you like. I find pumpkin seeds very nutty (and they are apparently a good source of iron). Unfortunately, fresh green peas apparently don't have the protein content of ripened dried peas, as most people like fresh peas :-) Pulses cold in salads are an acquired taste, I agree - but how about a salad in a tortilla with hot refried beans and some salsa?
Glad to hear about the cholesterol. What is the latest advice on blood pressure?
