patgreene has been coughing up more blood, her doctor thinks it is some kind of thrombosis, and she's been ordered to the emergency room at Stanford. I need overnight childcare if she gets admitted. And no one has told the kids yet about their grandmother.

I am trying to come home early -- the memorial service is Saturday afternoon -- but if Pat's hospitalized... (shakes head).

Oh, yeah, the drill is still broken, too...

I've spoken to Jay, and left VM for Pat, and can do some childcare if they need me to.

As I recall, Thursday is a day that Kevin is only in school until 1, so there could be a need both for someone overnight, as well as for someone for Kevin tomorrow afternoon. I'm not sure about James' band practice this afternoon, and whether there will be anyone to look after the younger two this afternoon.

It turned out to look worse than it was -- they did ultrasounds of my legs, and I did not have thrombosis; the doctors are speculating a viral respiratory infection.

(((hugs))) Oh man, Jay, that all sucks. I wish I could help with the kids, but honestly I just can't. Fortunately, it sounds like T_S might be able to. If there's something that needs done on Friday during the day, though, I* could possibly do that. Allegra will go to school at about 8, and I'll need to pick her up at about 6, so if I leave your home area by 4-4:30ish I think I'd be safe to be home in time. Let me know if there's something I can do. I can make food and send it down with T_S, for instance.

Les called to tell me what was up with you, and although that sounds really awful, it's at least not as bad as it could have been. So I'm glad you're not in the hospital anyway. Do let me know if there's anything I can do remotely, or if you do need something that I can do Friday during the day.

it looks like he may well be flying through NY on his way to and from the funeral. You might want to touch base with him-- I don't know if you'd be able to store some luggage for him for a few days, for instance, but that might be a help.
